All About Microshading Eyebrows
Permanent eyebrow make-up is becoming more and more popular every year, and no wonder, as you can forget about daily touch-ups after the procedure! We tell you all about such a permanent make-up technique as micro shading.
Microshading is a permanent eyebrow make-up technique that involves the creation of a natural shadow using a pixel shading procedure. While microblading eyebrows strokes create microdashes that mimic hairs, micro shading covers the skin with multiple dots where the injected pigment.
As a result, the eyebrows look natural since the technique is based on smooth transitions and detailed shading, as if the eyebrows are slightly tinted with a special powder or shadows. This type of colouring allows the shade of the eyebrows to be more saturated and the shape of the eyebrows to be correct and beautiful.
What is Microshading?
What is micro shading? Microblading has long been the most popular procedure, but not so long ago, microblading became a competitor. Let’s find out what this procedure is and its main benefits.
The benefits of micro shading: it is a permanent eyebrow make-up technique, in which the artist uses a thin pen to make many tiny dots in the gaps between the hairs but does not attempt to fill in the contour. The result is a smoothly shaded line that looks like an eyebrow shadow: the more dots, the more intense the effect. When microblading, the master makes cuts with a special super fine blade (hence the name) in thin strokes similar to the hairs and fills them with pigment – such a pattern becomes brighter and more precise.
With proper and regular care, the effect lasts much longer than microblading – 1 to 4 years (by comparison, microblading lasts a year).
The benefits of microshading:
- Suitable for oily skin.
- Eyebrows look more natural after microblading.
- Corrects brow asymmetry and adds density.
Microshading is a less painful procedure (the application is dotty, not dense and has long strokes, as in microblading); therefore, it is suitable even for patients with sensitive skin.
- The absence of a precise contour, the most natural look according to your eyebrow shape;
- It gives your eyebrows a bold and dense appearance;
- The effect lasts up to 4 years;
- The ability to choose any shade and pigment intensity – from translucent to high saturation.
A few days before microshading, avoid skincare products containing acids and retinol so that the skin is not too sensitive. People with sensitive skin can react to dyes, so it’s a good idea to get tested beforehand. Twenty-four hours before microshading, do not exercise, drink coffee or alcohol, sunbathe, go to a solarium, and have your eyebrows plucked. Before the treatment, the doctor will decide on the appropriate shade for the colouring, outline the eyebrows, and apply an anaesthetic to the skin area where the treatment is to be performed. Micro shading usually takes 1-2 hours.
After treatment, the eyebrows should not be wet for three days, sunbathing, swimming in a pool or any other outdoor body of water is not recommended, and sunlight exposure should be avoided for a fortnight. As with microblading, you should not expect quick results: the skin needs time to recover, so the beautiful effect will only appear after a month.
The healing process does not take place immediately – there is still a few days of redness around the eyebrows.
To speed up the healing process, you should refrain from: – bathing in swimming pools; – soaking in baths, saunas, solariums or taking hot baths for ten days.
- Avoid all contact with your brows during the first three days. Do not wash your face at all. Take care not to get any dirt on the eyebrows.
- Do not apply cosmetics to the healing areas of the skin.
- Do not sunbathe in the sun.
What does the microshading treatment look like?
The treatment is done in several stages. Microshading lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. However, most of the time is spent drawing the “layout” of the future eyebrow tattoo.
How microscheiding works
- The skin in the tattoo area is treated with a particular product.
- Contour tracing
- The doctor chooses the most suitable shape, traces it with a cosmetic pencil, and sketches the future eyebrows.
- An antiseptic is used to disinfect the skin around the eyebrows.
- Unnecessary hairs are plucked.
- Anaesthetic spray, cream or solution is applied to the eyebrows.
- Eyebrow Tattoo session
- After care recomandation.
Touch up is compulsory after 30-40 days. After the first microshading brow application, the pigment is quickly washed off (after one month). The remaining pigment on your eyebrows will be around 40%. However, after correction, the eyebrows will be brighter, and the result will last for a sufficient time – 1.5-2 years.
The main effect of micro shading is to enrich the colour of the eyebrows and, at the same time, accentuate just the natural beauty.
The only side effect is that micro shading is short-lived and requires retouching for the next 10-12 months.
The disadvantages include the inability to create clear brow borders. As a result, all lines are soft and flowimicroshAng, and the natural effect is not to everyone’s liking. The main disadvantage of micro shading is that you have to go back to the beautician after a month for correction. Essential treatment and retouch will be sufficient to maintain the effect for 12-18 months.
